Kickstart Your Digital Career

Here are the CV, interview and networking hints and tips we collated from the Orchard team for the recent Manchester Digital Skills Summit's Talent Day. Aimed primarily at the students and recent graduates attending the Talent Day, there is some useful info for anyone looking to progress their careers.

As a specialist recruitment business in the digital, creative and marketing space, we help many professionals take the next step in their careers every week. Unfortunately we tend to struggle to help new graduates, or those with limited sector experience, to find employment as our clients on the whole brief us on vacancies they can't find individuals for by themselves. They understandably don't want to pay a recruitment fee for a graduate they can source directly from a local University or College, or for someone with no experience, when they could find any number of similarly experienced people and train them up.

Every year we are inundated with enquiries and applications from new graduates looking for their first step on the career ladder, or from people trying to get a break into the sector, that we can't directly help. This makes us feel bad, so we want to do all we can to try and help you (and help ease our collective consciences too!)

Whether you're a digital native, digital immigrant, or digital neanderthal, we know that preparing and positioning yourself to get that perfect job can be a daunting prospect.

We've compiled all our relevant blog posts to assist you in everything from preparing your CV / portfolio, touching on the best ways to raise your profile in your chosen market via social media and networking, through to how to, and not to, act when you get the opportunity to meet and interview with a potential new employer.

We will endeavour to keep it updated. Please poke, tweet, email or call us to remind us if we don't.
