New Burnley Logo Designer Revealed

Amidst much speculation and intrigue, the designer of the controversial new Burnley Council Logo has stepped forward.

How-Do's report reads as follows: Burnley Vision has unveiled the dramatic logo that will be at the heart of its £110,000 re-brand exercise, as it looks to improve perceptions of the town and highlight the regeneration work that has transformed its once-maligned appearance. The pictured logo consists of a sprawl of interwined, multi-coloured bands - illustrating the dynamism of the town and representing different elements of its character.

Following an article on the Telegraph, one person commented, "well the sign sums Burnley council right up...keep going round in circles and end up in a right mess."

And one How-Do reader commented "It looks like a load of shagbands - and in that game the green band signifies something not a million miles from what Burnley council has just done to the tax-payer..."

Strangely the designer responsible for the logo has been kept a closely guarded secret, however after succumbing to the pressure he has decided to exclusively reveal himself to the public:

Apparently Mr Messy has also released the original brainstorming document (thanks to James Chapman for providing this wonderful insight):

  • Looks like a scale drawing of Saturn's rings as rendered by a 8 year old. With no arms.

  • The logo is for the economic development unit not Burnley borough council. Their logo appears to be still the town's coat-of-arms.

  • The new logo reminds me of the fountain Burnley had in its centre, in the 70's. All the industrial resources have been located abroad and that was the only reason Burnley thrived back in the day. Burnley needs to be wound down and disbanded, Just like the cotton industry. Tom Pepper http://www.tompepper.com
