#OrchardShoots: Our Champions, 'Reid or Deid'

Yesterday our reigning champion, Matt Reid, was finally presented with his OrchardShoots trophy for his successful 16/17 campaign.

“But.. it’s November?” I hear you ask.

As regular OrchardShoot players will know, the prize along with the trophy (and pride) is a printed shirt of your choice.

Unfortunately for Matt, his team of choice Sheffield Wednesday, have faced issues with their replica shirts this season in that, erm… they haven’t been on sale.

The Championship club opted in favour of leaving suppliers Sondico to produce their own kit this season, however discussions broke down with kit suppliers leaving the Owl’s three months into the season and still without replica kits on the market.

The self-produced 150th anniversary shirt emulates past shirts donned by Wednesday from 1965-72, with a three-button down placket, royal blue body, and white sleeves.

However, due to the delay Matt instead opted for a 1982-83 replica shirt, telling us “I’ve always known Wednesday to wear the classic blue and white stripe, so I wanted this shirt which was a nod to the past for me.

“It feels great to hold the trophy, even if it is belated!”

Matt’s team, ‘Reid or Deid’ finished top last year in front of 2nd place Stephen Townsend, however his reign is looking unlikely to continue as he is currently sitting in 45th place.

“I might have won last year but the way this season is going I don’t think anyone should be taking tips from me!”

It might be later that usual, but Matt is a very worthy winner and the newest name engraved on the OrchardShoots trophy. Congratulations to our reigning champions, Reid or Deid.
