The OrchardShoots Fantasy Premier League is back for 2012-13

The nation may be gripped by Olympic fever now Team GB has started it's gold rush, but as the Olympic flame is extinguished next Sunday, the new football season will be less than a week away.

Transfers rumours are starting to build with some deals agreed and plenty more still to be done before each team has it's squad in place to compete for this season's title. That also means it's time to start thinking about your own multi-million pound squad for the new season's OrchardShoots Fantasy Premier League, back for it's 4th year.

Last season we had almost tripled the number of teams in the league from the previous season with over 120 teams entering, some led by seriously competitive managers and others with a more passive interest.

The inaugural 2009-2010 Orchardshoots champion, Stephen Frater decided to take a break after a mentally draining defence of his title ended with a respectable 3rd place finish, but without the back-to-back title wins he craved. However 2010-2011 champion Tim Crighton was back and ready for the challenge.

The league leadership changed hands almost weekly during the season, and as the final weeks approached it was becoming a 3 horse race. Simon Wharton and Kieron Mayers pitted their footballing wits well and were in contention until the final week, but they weren't able to catch Orchard's own Matt Hackett who brought the OrchardShoots title home to Orchard Towers for the first time in it's history.

Fancy your chances this year? It's free to take part, and although no gold medal is up for grabs, the opportunity to join the illustrious OrchardShoots Fantasy Premier League Champion Roll of Honour is surely something not to be sniffed at.

If you want to join in this year's competition just log on to www.fantasy.premierleague.com, pick your squad of 15 players within your £100 million budget, and then to enter the OrchardShoots league the code is 184207-53603. Even if you know nothing about football, that shouldn't stop you joining in. There's an 'Auto-Complete' and a squad will be selected for you.

If you're on Twitter, you can use and follow the fantasy football chat with #OrchardShoots

Good luck!

NB: The league will remain open for new teams to enter until Friday 31st August 2012
